Egypt’s President pardons prominent activist Alaa Abd El-Fattah

We are delighted to welcome the Egyptian president’s pardon of prominent British-Egyptian activist Alaa Abd El-Fattah, following his lengthy imprisonment. We thank his family who worked tirelessly along with other organisations for his release. His case has been raised on multiple occasions in both Houses of Parliament, including through written questions and a recent debate in the Commons in May. We are awaiting further news on his release date and return to his family in the UK.
