Global Conference to Ban the Political Abuse of Religion

Today, the APPG on Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) hosted a Westminster conference in collaboration with the BPUR International. The Global Conference to Ban the Political Abuse of Religion was a call for a global partnership of officials, lawmakers, religious leaders, and international representatives to affirm international norms through an effective legal framework. The goal was to protect the sanctity of faith from political exploitation and address the underlying causes of religious conflict, division, and instability.

By gathering diplomats and faith leaders from diverse backgrounds, they built a global consensus on standards to prevent the political manipulation of religion, and deliberated on how to turn aspiration into practical protection.

“I am hopeful that by uniting the international community, this conference will contribute to lasting and tangible progress.” – Jim Shannon MP

Thank you to our Stakeholders, BPUR International, diplomats, lawmakers and distinguished leaders for their attendance and commitment to advacne freedom of religion and belief for all. It was an honour to host you!
